The rainbow family is a modern continuation of the wave of social change that started in the US forty years ago. It’s “the biggest disorganisation of non-members in the world”. It’s a worldwide, non-hierarchical group of individuals of all colours, cultures, religions, nations, shapes and sizes that create gatherings in nature all around the planet. If you have a bellybutton, you are qualified to participate. The world rainbow caravan is a nomadic rainbow community travelling between the sites of the world rainbow gatherings. The Alternative is not what rainbow is and rainbow is not what the Alternative is; this is simply a world rainbow caravan side project based on rainbow principles. The background information article to the Alternative was written by Martin and modified by the other members of the world rainbow caravan, on their way from Brazil to Guatemala.
Rainbow Crystal Land is a new side-project of the world rainbow family to create a network of open and ownerless permanent sustainable communities that will be the homes of all people whether sedentary or nomadic. Although based upon the ideas expressed in the background article on this website, the vision was modified in our talking circles at the rainbow gathering in Palenque (Dec 2012) and, through a completely communal process, consensed upon as a Declaration of Common Intention for a network of communities.
Although many of the ideas behind all this have their roots in rainbow gatherings and the rainbow family, and even if the Rainbow Crystal Land communities will try to stay as true as possible to the core values of rainbow, a unified Alternative extends far beyond any affiliation with a particular event or group. It is not a requirement to have participated in a rainbow gathering or to consider yourself part of the rainbow family to join the Alternative!
The core values of rainbow, such as openness, equality and tolerance, are of course not exclusive to rainbow, they come with the natural territory of being human. These qualities are broad and easy to gather around no matter who you are.
More volunteers are needed to help with this project. First of all, expert lawyers and web developers, please heed the call! Secondly, there’s a lot you can help with if you are multilingual, computer literate, have experience of rainbow gatherings and generally spend a lot of time on the internet. Please contact us.

La familia arco iris es una continuación moderna de la ola de cambio social que se inició en los EE.UU. hace cuarenta años. Se trata de “la mayor disorganización de no-miembros en el mundo”. Es un grupo no jerárquico de individuos de todo el mundo de todos los colores, culturas, religiones, naciones, formas y tamaños que crean encuentros en la naturaleza en todo el planeta. Si tú tienes un ombligo, estás calificado para participar. La caravana mundial arco iris es una comunidad nómada arco iris viajando entre los lugares de los encuentros arco iris del mundo. Aunque muchas de las ideas que hay detrás de este proyecto tienen sus raíces en los encuentros arco iris y en la familia arco iris, y aun si las comunidades Tierra Cristal Arcoiris buscaran mantenerse apegadas a los principios del Arcoiris, La Alternativa se extiende mucho más allá de cualquier afiliación con un evento en particular o de grupo, ¡no es un requisito haber participado en un encuentro arco iris o considerarte parte de la familia del arco iris para unirte a la Alternativa!
Los valores centrales arco iris como la apertura, la igualdad y la tolerancia, son por supuesto no exclusivos de arco iris, ellas vienen con el territorio natural del ser humano. Estas cualidades son amplias y fáciles de reunir no importa quién tú seas.

Die Rainbow-Familie ist die moderne Fortführung der Welle von Sozialen Bewegungen, die in den USA vor vierzig Jahren begonnen hat. Es ist die größte „Nicht-Organisation von Nicht-Mitgliedern der Welt“. Es ist eine weltweite, nicht hierarchische Gruppe von Individuen von allen Farben, Kulturen, Religionen, Nationen, Formen und Größen, die „Festivals“ (Gatherings) auf der ganzen Welt in der Natur kreiert. Wenn man einen Bauchnabel hat, darf man dabei sein. Die World Rainbow Karawane ist eine nomadische Regenbogen Gemeinschaft, die sich zwischen den Orten der globalen Regenbogen „Festivals“ (World Rainbow Gatherings) bewegt. Die „Alternative“ ist nicht was ein Rainbow ist, und ein Rainbow ist nicht was die „Alternative“ ist; dies hier ist grundsätzlich einfach ein Nebenprojekt der „World Rainbow Karawane“, basierend auf Rainbow-Prinzipien. Der Artikel, der auf „Background“ dieser Seite erscheint wurde von Martin geschrieben und von anderen Mitgliedern der World Rainbow Karawane auf dem Weg von Brasilien nach Guatemala modifiziert.

Obwohl viele Ideen dieser Vision ihre Wurzeln in Rainbow Gatherings und der Rainbow Familie haben, und selbst wenn die Rainbow Crystal Land Gemeinschaften versuchen werden so nah wie möglich an den Kern-Prinzipien des Rainbows zu bleiben, wird eine vereinigte Alternative weit über jede Zugehörigkeit zu bestimmten Gruppen oder Festen reichen. Es ist nicht nötig bei einem Rainbow Gathering gewesen zu sein, oder sich als Teil der Rainbow Familie zu fühlen, um bei der Alternative mitzumachen.
Die zentralen Werte des Rainbows, wie Offenheit Gleichheit und Toleranz, gehören natürlich nicht Exklusiv zum Rainbow, sie sind Teil der Menschlichkeit. Diese Qualitäten sind weit, und einfach anzunehmen egal wer man ist.

レインボーファミリーとは、４０年前アメリカにて始まった社会的変化の波が、現代まで続いているものです。それは、”世界最大の組織員のいない非組織”と言えます。あらゆる人種、文化、信仰、国、形、大きさの人間が集まった、世界的規模の非階級組織グループで、世界中の自然の中で、ギャザリングつまり集いを行なっています。参加資格などはないので、どんな人でも参加することができます。ワールドレインボーキャラバンとは、ワールドレインボーギャザリングの開催地から、開催地へと旅する、移動型レインボーコミュニティです。
The Alternativeは、レインボーでもなければ、レインボーは、The Alternativeでもなく、単に、レインボーの原則に基づいた、ワールドレインボーキャラバンの付随プロジェクトです。 背景情報の記事、The Alternativeは、Martinが執筆したもので、ブラジルからグアテマラに向かう途中、ワールドレインボーキャラバンの他のメンバーによって修正が加えられました。

開かれていること、平等、忍耐といった、レインボーの核心的な価値は、当然ながらレインボーに限られたものではなく、人間であることの一部であります。こういった本質は、どんな人をも包み込み、どんな人をも引き寄せます。
