- “The Alternative” was written by Martin in June 2012 and edited by the world rainbow caravan travelling from Brazil to Mexico. This website was initially created in order to publish this article. “The Alternative” is much wider in scope than the Rainbow Crystal Land project. It exists in a full version and also a “one page summary” if you want a quick introduction.

The Alternative (one page summary)
- Some ideas from the text above were put into practice as a “Declaration of Common Intention” for a network of permanent communities and consensed upon in circles of up to a hundred people at the world rainbow gathering in Palenque, Mexico, in December 2012.
Declaration of Common Intention Version 1 / Declaracion de Intencion Comun Version 1
- The text above gave birth to our first Rainbow Crystal Land in Costa Rica. This community continued the work on the DCI and consensed a proposal of amendments and extentions to be brought to the RCL council at the world rainbow gathering in Canada. This proposal was published as a blog post on this website. We realised that the proposal was far too complex so a last-minute simplification was made before the gathering. After several amendments, this simplified version was consensed in an announced RCL circle at the world rainbow gathering on Vancouver Island, Canada, in August 2013. This consensus was later verified and re-consensed with only one very minor amendment at the RCL in Costa Rica, to give us our first Global Consensus for a new DCI. To put it into perspective, we reached version 1.12 (!) before this was consensed to become our DCI version 2.
Declaration of Common Intention Version 2
- After a review by professional lawyers, “Appendix B – Land Ownership” of the DCI was completely reworked and simplified and a couple of corresponding changes were made to Part II. Version 3 was proposed by the Oaxaca Scouting Mission and consensed at the RCL in Costa Rica in August 2014.
